Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has ordered the temporary relocation of staff and students from its Ilesha-Baruba Campus to the main Malete campus as a precautionary security measure.
The directive was announced in a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, on Wednesday in Ilorin.
The move follows a visit by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh and top management to Ilesha-Baruba on November 30 to assess welfare conditions and campus facilities. Students and staff were advised to carry only essential items while the university secures safer accommodation at Malete.
The relocation will remain in effect until security conditions improve and normal academic activities can safely resume. Dr Aliyu also confirmed that the Ilesha-Baruba community will participate in KWASU’s 13th convocation, scheduled to commence on December 9, before the mid-semester break.
