Lafarge Builds Libraries for Cross River Schools

Lafarge Africa, a leading cement company, has donated two well-equipped libraries to secondary schools in Mfamosing, Cross River State. The lucky schools are Obutong Comprehensive High School and Government Secondary School, Akwa Ikot Effanga.

At the handover ceremony, Mr. Abiodun Akingbade, representing the plant manager, said the company wants to support education and youth development in its host communities. He added that the libraries were built based on what the people truly need.

The Director of Policy & Higher Education, Dr Moses Agboreyo, who stood in for the state Commissioner for Education, thanked Lafarge for helping improve education in the state. He called on local leaders to take good care of the facilities. Lafarge’s Communications Manager, Mr. Inyang Bassey, said the project is part of their commitment to building strong communities. “We believe that giving children access to knowledge will help secure their future,” he stated.
