The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has allocated N70 billion to 18 tertiary institutions in Nigeria for mini-grid power projects as part of its 2025 intervention cycle.
Board of Trustees member for the South-South zone, Aboh Uduyok, announced this on Friday in Uyo during a stakeholders’ town hall meeting with beneficiary institutions.
He said the initiative is aimed at tackling one of the most persistent problems in higher institutions — unreliable electricity supply and high energy costs. The mini grid project, he explained, will provide sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions, starting with the 18 selected institutions across the country.
Uduyok noted that the move will not only improve power supply but also enhance teaching and overall academic productivity.
