Ekiti Awards 250 School Renovation Projects

The Ekiti State Government has awarded contracts for the renovation of more than 250 school infrastructure projects across the state.

Femi Akinwumi, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), made this known in Ado Ekiti on Saturday. He said the projects also include several thousand pieces of furniture under the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention, and that contractors will soon move to the site.

Akinwumi’s statement followed a viral video showing a block of classrooms at St. Westley Primary School, Omuo-Ekiti, flooded after a rainstorm blew off its roof. He urged the public to dismiss claims that the government ignored the school’s appeal for help, assuring that the rehabilitation is already captured in the new contracts.

The SUBEB boss stated that the projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to enhancing learning conditions for pupils across Ekiti State.
