The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has dismissed claims by the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) about the creation of an “NBTE–NAPS Accreditation and Verification Taskforce Committee.”
In a statement, NBTE clarified that it has never approved or authorised such a committee, stressing that accreditation and verification remain its sole statutory responsibility.
The Board explained that by law, only NBTE is empowered to handle accreditation, quality assurance, and verification in Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and allied institutions. These roles, it added, cannot be delegated or shared with any external body.
The rejoinder was issued to counter misinformation and reassure stakeholders that the Board remains the sole authority overseeing standards in Nigeria’s technical and vocational institutions.
