Public schools in Lagos State resumed on Monday for the 2025/2026 academic session, with the government introducing new vocational equipment to strengthen practical learning.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli Balogun, led monitoring teams across the six education districts to assess compliance with the resumption directive.
During visits to Dolphin Senior and Junior High School and Saint Paul’s Anglican Nursery and Primary School on Lagos Island, the state distributed items including a standard oven, a gas cooker, and a sewing machine to support Home Economics and vocational training.
Mr Alli Balogun said he was encouraged by the turnout of students and teachers on the first day of term, describing it as a sign of commitment to the state’s education agenda. The commissioner added that the provision of vocational tools was part of broader efforts to equip students with skills relevant to self-reliance and future employment.
