LASU has officially matriculated 14,893 new students
Lagos State University (LASU) has officially matriculated 14,893 new students, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello urging them to uphold strong moral character and shun cultism, indecent dressing, and examination malpractice. The matriculation ceremony took place on Monday at Buba Marwa Hall, Ojo Main Campus.
Addressing the freshers, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that LASU is a student-centred institution committed to nurturing future leaders and contributing to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria. She highlighted the importance of adhering to university rules, attending lectures regularly, and selecting peers wisely, warning that “bad friends destroy good characters.”
Olatunji-Bello also reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, announcing the Directorate of Response and Prevention to safeguard students.
She assured the freshers that their welfare and security remain top priorities and urged them to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated students and their families on securing admission from over 70,000 applicants, describing the achievement as a testament to their dedication.
In a motivational address, Dr Samson Oyefolu encouraged students to plan purposefully and stay focused to maximise their success during their time at the university.
