Kayode Bello, UI master’s student, accuses the institution of disobeying court orders
A University of Ibadan (UI) master’s student, Kayode Bello, has accused the institution and its leadership of ignoring a Federal High Court judgment ordering them to grant him access to his student portal for registration and graduation.
Bello filed suit FHC/IB/CS/119/2024 against the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale; the Registrar, Mr Saliu Ganiyu; the Provost of the Postgraduate College, Prof. Ayo Ogunjuyigbe; the ICT Unit head; and others. He said Justice Evelyn Maha’s October 17 ruling required the respondents to unblock his portal and include him on the university’s convocation list.
The student claims the court dismissed the university’s November 14 application seeking a stay of execution, noting no exceptional circumstances justified delaying compliance.
Despite the Senate approving his 2024 postgraduate results, Bello alleged that his name was later removed from the graduation list without explanation.
Bello, whose portal has reportedly been blocked since 2021, insists that the university has failed to comply with the court order, thereby denying him the right to register and graduate.
