Thousands of medical students across Nigeria will compete for a grand prize of N1 million in the 2025 Intercollegiate Medical Essay Competition. The contest, themed “The Future of Medical Education in Nigeria in the Light of Evolving Career Dynamics,” aims to spark fresh ideas on how medical training can meet global standards and Nigeria’s growing healthcare needs.
Apart from the top prize, the second-place winner will get N400,000, while the third-place winner will take home N150,000. All three winners will also receive United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) preparation resources valued at over $1,000 each. In addition, the top 10 participants will share extra prizes worth over $10,000.
Organisers, The Concept Academy, said the competition was created to empower young medical students with creativity, innovation, and leadership skills. “This is about more than winning prizes; it is about preparing the next generation of doctors to thrive in a changing medical landscape,” they explained.
