MKU Tightens Academic Calendar Ahead of NUC Accreditation

Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU) has approved a revised 2025/2026 academic calendar featuring stricter academic timelines as the institution prepares for a major accreditation exercise.

The decision was reached at an extraordinary Senate meeting held on October 2 2025, where members endorsed changes to Continuous Assessment schedules, lecture periods, and revision timelines aimed at improving academic efficiency.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.G. Jimoh said the adjustment reflects MKU’s readiness for the forthcoming National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation, noting that the university remains committed to maintaining high standards since its establishment.

The 2025/2026 session is scheduled to begin on October 16, with both new and returning students resuming on October 20.

Registrar Engr. M.M. Kamaludeen said the university was set to open the new session “bigger and better,” citing ongoing facility upgrades and the introduction of new academic programmes.

Prof. M.J. Saka, a Senate member, described the changes as a move toward stronger academic discipline and improved learning outcomes.
