FUNAAMAA members with the beneficiaries after the presentation
With rising tuition fees and the deepening economic crisis forcing many young Nigerians out of school, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Muslim Alumni Association (FUNAAMAA) is stepping in to keep students in class.
Through its annual scholarship initiative, FUNAAMAA has awarded scholarships to 19 indigent Muslim students of the University to ease their financial burden and encourage them to continue their studies.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Lateef Sanni, represented by the President, Prof. Mutiu Busari, stated that the scheme was established to support brilliant students who struggle to stay in school. He urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as motivation to remain focused and determined despite current challenges.
The Chief Imam of the University Mosque, Prof. Idris Ayinde, who presented the awards, commended donors within and outside Nigeria for sustaining the fund amid economic hardship. He noted that 10 students received partial scholarships while nine benefited fully.
Prof. Ayinde described the initiative as a lifeline for students who might otherwise abandon their education and called for continued support to expand the scheme in the coming years.
