The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examination results, recording significant improvements in Mathematics performance.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, announced the results at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
He said 85,805 candidates were graded in Mathematics, with 81,172 (94.60 per cent) passing and 4,633 (5.40 per cent) failing. This compares with 2024, when 60,849 (91.39 per cent) passed and 5,738 (8.61 per cent) failed.
A total of 92,875 candidates registered for the 2025 examinations, an increase of 37.08 per cent over the previous year. Of these, 89,621 were graded, representing 96.50 per cent of total enrolments. Male candidates accounted for 62.07 per cent, while females made up 37.93 per cent.
Performance in English Language, however, showed a decline. Out of 85,476 candidates graded, 79,575 (93.10 per cent) passed, compared with 63,866 (95.87 per cent) in 2024.
Cases of examination malpractice also reduced. The board reported 435 candidates involved in 516 cases, down from 349 candidates in 524 cases last year.
Mohammed commended the Federal Ministry of Education for supporting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and urged Nigerians to prioritise skills acquisition over paper qualifications.
