National Library Reaffirms Commitment to Child Education, Rights in Bauchi

The National Library of Nigeria, Bauchi State Branch, has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the education, rights, and general welfare of children, marking Children’s Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration at its Bauchi complex.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Regina Olohiliye Ngorngor, Assistant Director and Head of the Bauchi Branch of the National Library, stated that children remain at the heart of the library’s developmental agenda.

 She emphasised the importance of nurturing a strong reading culture among children while integrating modern technological innovations, including artificial intelligence, into their learning experiences.

Mrs Ngorngor used the occasion to call on parents, guardians, educators, and other key stakeholders within and beyond Bauchi to play a more active role in promoting education and research.

She stressed the need to prioritise inclusive education that meets globally accepted standards, particularly through targeted outreach to out-of-school children.

She further encouraged students to acquire productive, value-driven skills that complement their academic pursuits. In line with this, she advocated for the establishment of additional vocational and technology-based institutions to address the country’s evolving developmental needs.

Underscoring the significance of aligning educational efforts with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Mrs Ngorngor urged all stakeholders to support government initiatives aimed at positioning Nigeria prominently on the global educational stage.

The event featured colourful cultural performances, inspiring addresses, and renewed pledges of support for education from invited dignitaries. It also highlighted the Bauchi State Government’s sustained commitment to education under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Several speakers commended the National Library’s role in promoting literacy and education, particularly among children. They called for continued collaboration between public institutions and local communities to realise children’s rights and educational potential fully.
