The Chairman of the Nigeria Education Loans and Scholarship Board (NELFUND) and member representing Akoko North-East/North-West federal constituency, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has urged Nigerian students to fully embrace the recently introduced student loan programme aimed at reducing financial challenges in higher institutions.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by leaders of the National Congress of Akoko Students (NACAS) to his situation office in Abuja, Hon. Ehindero emphasised the critical role of the NELFUND scheme in supporting students’ academic pursuits, especially for those from less privileged backgrounds.
The visit, which took place on Monday, brought together key NACAS members, including the National President, Ajisafe Emmanuel Ayowole, and other executives such as Igbodola Promise Benjamin, Edward Ojikutu, and Ajana Emmanuel Olanrewaju.
Past student body leaders, like Olomosaye Olatunde Excel and Borode Taofiq Ayomide, were also in attendance.
The student leaders commended Hon. Ehindero for his consistent support for educational development across Akoko communities and called for continuous collaboration as NACAS marks its 20th anniversary.
In appreciation, they presented him with an Award of Excellence and conferred on him the title of NACAS Ambassador.
In his response, Hon. Ehindero reiterated his commitment to educational equity and promised to ensure that students in Akoko and across Nigeria benefit from the loan scheme.
He also encouraged students to spread awareness of NELFUND and use the opportunity responsibly to achieve their academic goals. The NELFUND initiative, launched to address financial barriers in education, aims to provide accessible funding for Nigerian students in tertiary institutions.
