The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State, will commence academic activities in October with five foundational faculties, the Federal Ministry of Education has confirmed.
The university, recently established by the Federal Government, will run faculties of Agriculture, Natural and Applied Sciences, Renewable Natural Resources, Animal Production and Management, and Social Management and Development Studies. Officials say the institution is designed to integrate agriculture, science, and development to tackle food insecurity, environmental degradation, and unemployment.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Mufutau Olaoye Atayese described FUADSI as “a citadel of innovation and service” that will blend theory with hands-on practice to produce problem-solvers and innovators. He added that partnerships with industries, government agencies and international organisations would strengthen research and teaching.
A facility assessment delegation from Abuja, led by Mrs Rakiya Ilyasu, Director of University Education, inspected the take-off site and permanent campus earlier this month. She assured the host community that the government is committed to making FUADSI a model institution.
Located in Iragbiji, the university is expected to boost local economic growth while training graduates to compete globally in agriculture and development studies.
