Nigerian governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have collaborated with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and New Globe to fix foundational learning issues.
The decision to improve foundational learning was made at the State-Level Workshop on Foundational Learning and Out-of-School Children, held in Abuja on Thursday, July 31, 2025. According to the NGF, many primary school pupils have limited foundational literacy and socio-economic skills that can develop their complex abilities. Mr. Rasaq Akinyemi, the UBEC Deputy Secretary, representing Aisha Garba, the UBEC Executive Secretary, emphasised that every child deserves the right to quality education.
