The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs Esuabana Nko-Asanye, has urged Nigerians to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies as strategic tools for national growth and economic transformation.
Speaking at the Global Sustainable Technology and Innovation Community Conference (G-STIC 2025) in Abuja, Esuabana said AI is reshaping global economies and must be responsibly harnessed to boost productivity, efficiency and innovation across critical sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and governance.
She emphasised that Nigeria’s future competitiveness depends on its ability to adopt and regulate AI effectively, urging collaboration among policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to build a technology-driven economy.
The conference, jointly organised by the Senate and House Committees on Innovation, Science and Technology in partnership with the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), explored how AI can accelerate the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
NACETEM Director-General, Dr Olushola Odusanya, said the G-STIC platform promotes innovation for sustainable growth. At the same time, other speakers called for policies that align Nigeria’s digital agenda with global technological trends.
