The National Hospital, Abuja, has signed a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Virginia Commonwealth University, U.S., on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
The MoU, signed by Prof. Muhammad Mahmud, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, and Dr Robert Winn, the centre’s Director, will enhance cancer research and clinical trials in Nigeria.
In addition, it will promote sustainable collaboration in oncology, enhancing clinical trials and training more scientists. Speaking about the agreement, Mahmud said the MoU is a milestone in the hospital’s effort to succeed in cancer care. Winn suggested that the partnership be extended to Nigerian institutions, including the National Institute of Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT).
