Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, MD, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF)
Two major workers’ unions at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) have thrown their support behind the management team led by Managing Director Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, praising recent reforms and restructuring efforts.
In a joint letter to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Muhammadu Dingyadi, the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) and the National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) commended the management for improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
The unions highlighted the termination of a controversial digitalisation contract, describing it as flawed and rejected by staff. They said the move prevented further waste of funds and demonstrated the management’s commitment to accountability.
The letter also welcomed ongoing efforts to amend the NSITF Act 1993 and the Employees’ Compensation Act 2010, describing the changes as necessary to empower the Fund, resolve ambiguities, and provide stronger protection for Nigerian workers.
The unions condemned attempts by “desperate individuals” to undermine management through blackmail, urging the Minister to support the reforms. They stated that the steps taken so far have yielded visible results, enhanced corporate performance, and positioned the Fund for improved service to workers nationwide.
The letter was signed jointly by ASSBIFI and NUBIFIE leaders at NSITF.
