NYSC Resumes Arrears Payments to Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has resumed disbursing arrears to corps members, beginning the second tranche of N44,000 owed nationwide.

Payments began on Wednesday and are being released in batches, following an initial payment on June 3 2025. The arrears form part of the newly approved N77,000 monthly allowance for corps members, a commitment announced earlier this year.

At the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop in Abuja on April 5, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, stated that both current and recently discharged corps members would benefit. “Once funds are released to us to offset the arrears, we will pay them. Even our recently graduated corps members will benefit. We have their bank details,” he said.

The second tranche covers the period from July 2024 to March 2025, marking the end of months of frustration over delayed payments. Several corps members confirmed they had received the credit alerts, describing them as an unexpected relief.

Brigadier General Nafiu emphasised the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and urged citizens to remain calm, noting that the administration is responsive to their needs.
