Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has given N15m to two educational institutions in Bauchi State, stressing that the gesture was not tied to politics.
During a visit on Friday, Obi presented N10m to Malkiya College of Nursing Sciences and N5m to Intisharu Taufizul Quranic Islamic School. At the nursing college, he said investing in human infrastructure was essential to improving healthcare, noting that nurses were central to patient care. He explained that his annual support for about 70 nursing schools was aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, not advancing any political agenda.
At the Islamic school in Yelwa, Obi said the donation would help the institution’s activities, adding that children should combine Islamic teachings with subjects like English and Mathematics to excel in modern society. He also addressed a “Youth and Leadership Opportunity” forum, urging greater investment in education for a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria.
