The management of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, has pledged to strengthen its relationship with its host community, as part of efforts to support the institution’s development.
Led by the rector, Dr Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye, the management team paid a courtesy visit to the Oloja Ekun of Igbesaland, Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, at his palace.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Oluseye said engaging with the host community was essential to the institute’s growth, noting that cooperation and mutual understanding would help advance its development goals. He sought the monarch’s support in key areas, including the recovery of encroached land and the mobilisation of community contributions to improve infrastructure such as classrooms and laboratories.
The rector said the institute aimed to raise its facilities to global standards and believed this would be difficult to achieve without the backing of traditional institutions and residents.
In his response, Oba Akinde welcomed the delegation and commended the management for prioritising dialogue with the community. He assured them of his support, describing the institute as integral to Igbesaland’s social and economic development.
The visit was seen as a step towards closer collaboration between the institution and its host community, with both sides expressing optimism about shared progress and long-term development.
