The Samuel Okwaraji Foundation has revealed an annual under-16 football competition among secondary schools.
Chidozie Achonwa, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, the secretary of the foundation, mentioned that the competition will be held in memory of the deceased Super Eagles player, Samuel Okwaraji. Achonwa stated that Patrick Okwaraji, Okwaraji’s eldest brother, developed the annual football competition to preserve his legacy and support football at the grassroots. He added that the tournament will be organised in partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission, the Senate and House Committees on Sports, and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
