Olivet Baptist High School Old Students have won the first-ever Oyo Secondary Schools Old Students Football Championship. The final match took place at Durbar Stadium in Oyo, where they defeated their long-time rivals, the Old Students of Ladigbolu Grammar School. The match ended 1-1 in regular time, with Olivet equalising through Abass Hazmat. They later won on penalties, scoring 4 out of 5, while Ladigbolu only scored 2.
Oba Adeyemi High School took third place after beating St. Bernardine’s Grammar School 3-0. Olivet’s Zachues Aderoju also won the penalty challenge, and Oba Adeyemi’s Ogunsola Kehinde won both the 100m and 200m races. Coach Engineer Ademola Gesinde praised his team’s fighting spirit. Hon. Isiaka Kazeem Arole encouraged old students to support their former schools. The event was organised by Hyzik Media Concept and supported by ACE Supermarket, Maya Communications, and Emmy Tee Fitness Centre. Trophies and cash prizes were awarded.
