OOU Lecturer Advocates Girl-Child Education

Dr. Oludare Ogunyombo, a lecturer at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has called on government, community leaders, religious leaders, and parents to prioritise the education of the girl-child and instil in her the values that shape responsible womanhood.

Ogunyombo stated this at the launch of a book titled Global Millennium Women, authored by Dr. Abimbola Olumegbon, held in Lagos recently. Emphasising the importance of raising awareness about the potential of the girl-child, he noted that the book offers a personal narrative reflecting the author’s vision of what it means to nurture and develop girls through adolescence into impactful women.

The author, Olumegbon, explained that the book aimed to encourage women to support and uplift one another. She described the work as both educational and historical, highlighting the importance of mentorship among women. She further advised that while striving for empowerment, women should maintain respect for their husbands and those around them, insisting on balancing personal growth and relational harmony.
