OPay Supports 20 Nekede Students in ₦1.2BN CSR Drive

OPay has empowered 20 students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede as part of its 10-year ₦1.2 billion Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Scholarship Plan.

The Lagos event on November 1, 2025, marked the initiative’s first year, during which it disbursed ₦126 million to 420 students across 20 institutions, with each beneficiary receiving ₦300,000.

Federal Polytechnic Nekede, the only federal polytechnic selected, was represented by Rector Dr Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, who delivered a goodwill message highlighting OPay’s impact on tertiary education. She advocated for a Cyber-Security Laboratory and graduate absorption initiatives to strengthen students’ skills and employability.

The Polytechnic delegation included Registrar Mr Ugochukwu Stanley Njoku, Dean Dr Paul Saint Christopher, and student representatives Diala Christian Ikedinachukwu, Amandikwa Amarachi Faustina, and Ogbonna Chiamaka Assumpta. Their selection reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and discipline.

The OPay Empowering Futures Initiative covers several universities and polytechnics nationwide, including UNN, ABU Zaria, UI, OAU Ile-Ife, and LASU, fostering youth development, technological literacy, and access to education.
