Osun Girls’ Alternative School Opens September 22

Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that the Alternative High School for Girls in Osogbo will officially begin academic activities on September 22, 2025, as schools across the state resume for the first term.

The school, built by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and handed over to the state government in December 2024, is designed to give young mothers a second chance at education. The school combines formal learning with vocational training, designed to help girls rebuild their confidence, acquire life skills, and contribute to society.

Speaking during the distribution of vehicles and instructional materials to schools, Adeleke said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive education. He also confirmed that the UBEC Model Smart School in Osogbo is ready to resume, with plans to replicate it across the state.

Observers believe the school will expand educational opportunities for vulnerable girls in Osun and beyond while strengthening the state’s human capital development.
