The Osun State Government has launched the first cohort of its free digital skills training programme in a significant move to promote youth empowerment and digital innovation.

The flagship initiative under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 5 Point Development Agenda is being implemented through a strategic partnership between the Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals and Multilateral Relations and Skill Afrika, a leading digital skills training organisation.

The first cohort commenced this week at the SDG Centre in Dagbolu, where two intensive courses in front-end web development and user interface and user experience product design are currently ongoing. The training is designed to equip young residents of Osun with globally competitive digital skills, with the long-term objective of fostering innovation, self-reliance and sustainable development.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Multilateral Relations, Mr Bamikole Omishore, described the initiative as a transformative step towards positioning Osun youths for relevance in the global digital economy.

Fifty participants were selected through a rigorous screening process from across the state. Each participant will receive practical training, mentorship and access to modern digital tools throughout the duration of the programme.
