TRCN Inducts 759 New Teachers at Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo
The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has formally inducted 759 new teachers into the profession at Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo.
The cohort included 707 degree holders, 52 recipients of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), and two holders of master’s degrees. The ceremony, held at the university’s Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium on Wednesday, marked a significant milestone in the professionalisation of teaching in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, TRCN Registrar, Dr Ronke Soyombo, urged the inductees to embrace technology, uphold ethics, and pursue excellence in classrooms nationwide. She highlighted recent reforms by the Council, including the introduction of a digital teacher portal, AI integration, standardised lesson note templates, career path frameworks, and mandatory continuing professional development, all aimed at strengthening the teaching profession.
Professor Bayode Isaiah Popoola, Vice-Chancellor of AFUED, congratulated the inductees and praised TRCN’s efforts to advance professional standards. He encouraged teachers to “educate, inspire, and transform lives,” and hinted at plans to introduce awards for eminent contributors to Nigerian education in future ceremonies.
The event drew university officials, TRCN representatives, staff, students, and education stakeholders, underlining the importance of teacher development in Nigeria’s educational landscape.
