Deputy Comptroller Kayode Akano and Deputy DG, Partnerships for Delivery, Tahirou Abdoulaye signing the MoU
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Oyo State Command, has collaborated with IITA-CGIAR to improve agricultural innovation and national food security.
The collaboration followed both institutions signing a memorandum of understanding on November 24, 2025, and an initial meeting in September.
Speaking at the meeting, Comptroller Ikechi Ugbogu Nwosu, the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, mentioned that the federal government has permitted the service to explore agriculture, hence the need for a strategic partner.
The comptroller added, “With the privilege that the federal government granted our agency to venture into agriculture, we hope to work collaboratively to reverse the advancing effects of global warming and climate change.
“We no longer want to be merely consumers but active participants in attaining food security, and it would be tremendously beneficial to partner with this foremost agricultural institute.”
