Professor Elias Lamle, a lecturer at the University of Jos, has been appointed lead consultant on integrating peacebuilding into Nigeria’s National Action Plan (NAP).
The announcement was confirmed in a statement by Dr Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, on Saturday in Jos. Lamle, a professor of Anthropology and conflict management expert at the university’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, will provide technical guidance to strengthen the capacity of government institutions, civil society organisations, and sub-national actors.
He is also expected to support the design and implementation of climate action strategies aimed at promoting peace and stability across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
Governor Mutfwang welcomed the appointment and thanked the Federal Ministry of Environment and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) for recognising Lamle’s expertise. He described the appointment as “timely” and expressed confidence in Lamle’s ability to offer strategic guidance at both national and international levels.
Lamle has previously worked on conflict resolution and peacebuilding initiatives across Africa and is recognised for his contributions to policy development and conflict management frameworks.
