Two pupils have emerged as winners of the 2025 Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Spelling Bee Competition and will represent the council at the Lagos State finals.
The contest, held on September 24 at the LCDA Secretariat, brought together public primary and secondary schools from the area.
Olukoya David of U.A.M.C Primary School, Eleja, won the primary school category, while Nwode Chiamaka of Zumuratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo, came first in the secondary school category.
Council chairman Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun praised the winners and their teachers, describing them as “true heroes shaping the leaders of tomorrow.” He urged pupils to remain focused, embrace discipline and avoid vices such as drug abuse, adding that his administration would reward outstanding representatives at the state level.
Aroyewun, himself a product of public schools, said the competition reflected the council’s commitment to promoting education and academic excellence. All winners received merit awards and gift items.
