Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, held its 17th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, marking two decades of academic excellence and moral leadership. The event was highlighted by the emotional valedictory address of Durugbo Joel, who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025 “Indomitable Set” with a perfect 5.0 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering.
In his speech, Joel expressed gratitude to his late father, Professor Durugbo, and his mother for their sacrifices, as well as to his lecturers and mentors for their guidance. He described the university as a place that shaped both his intellect and character, instilling in him the values of humility, integrity, and service.
Joel commended Vice-Chancellor Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele for his leadership. He paid tribute to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, whom he called “a father in faith and a beacon of divine vision.”
He urged his fellow graduates to become change-makers and ambassadors of excellence. His moving speech drew a standing ovation, closing a ceremony that celebrated perseverance, resilience, and two decades of educational transformation.
