Research Commercialisation Key to Nigeria’s Growth

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has emphasised that Nigeria’s economic progress hinges on translating research ideas into tangible products and services.

Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu, stated that research findings will not benefit the nation if they remain in laboratories. He explained that the NASENI Research Commercialisation Grant Programme (NRCGP) was established to assist researchers in overcoming financial and administrative challenges that often hinder the development of promising projects.

Speaking at a sensitisation programme in Abuja, Halilu, represented by Research Director Prof. Abdulmalik Onuwe, said the grant will support innovative projects that can create jobs and strengthen industries. He noted that the application process is fully digital, transparent, and free from unnecessary bureaucracy.

He added that the sensitisation aims to guide researchers on how to access the grant and contribute to national development.
