Stakeholders Plan Teachers’ Conference, Guinness World Record

School leaders, educators and stakeholders in the education sector have met in Lagos to strategise ahead of the “Let There Be Teachers” conference scheduled for September 20.

The meeting brought together members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), the Nigeria Union of Teachers, and other groups, with discussions focusing on school growth, sustainability, and plans to mobilise 60,000 teachers for a Guinness World Record attempt during the conference.

Convener of the event, Seyi Anifowose, said the initiative was aimed at repositioning and restoring value to the teaching profession. “Teachers are not just employees; they are co-visioners, co-labourers, and major leaders alongside school owners,” he stated.

Education consultant, Rotimi Eyitayo, urged school owners to build vision-driven teams rather than merely filling vacancies, while encouraging them to attend high-level summits like the Nigerian Economic Summit for exposure and growth.

Also speaking, co-founder of 1 Million Teachers (1MT), Dr Hakeem Subair, highlighted the central role of teachers in nation-building and stressed the importance of prioritising their welfare.
