Dr Temitope John Alake, Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to allowing students to freely elect their leaders, reinforcing a culture of democratic participation on campus.
Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake, represented by the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr Aderemi Akinyemi, made the remarks during the reception of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) President, Comrade Ladoja Shola, and his team.
He noted that sustained peace on campus remains a strategic imperative for academic stability, adding that the administration continues to prioritise student welfare.
According to him, renovation work has already been completed on some hostel blocks at Abuja Hall, with additional upgrades underway.
He urged students to maintain constructive engagement with management to ensure collective progress, stressing that development is impossible without sustained peace.
Also speaking, the Deputy Rector and Chairman of the Security Committee, Dr Michael Akinola, said the institution has invested heavily in campus fencing to enhance safety. He expressed concern over individuals damaging sections of the fence to create illegal access routes.
In his remarks, NANS President Shola said his visit aligns with his commitment to maintain close contact with students. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s student loan initiative and encouraged management to strengthen accommodation, security and academic stability.
