Taro Agric Consulting has commenced training for its first batch of participants under the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, which aims to boost employment and self-reliance through agribusiness.
The induction and screening exercise took place on Saturday at the firm’s training centre in Erefe, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where shortlisted trainees were verified using their official TVET identification and biodata forms.
Speaking during the event, Olamide Akintaro, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Taro Agric Consulting, urged participants to stay committed, describing the TVET scheme as one of the government’s most practical steps to curb unemployment and promote entrepreneurship.
Akintaro, who began livestock farming nearly two decades ago as a student at Obafemi Awolowo University, said dedication and expert training are key to success in the agricultural sector.
The TVET programme, coordinated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) under the Federal Ministry of Education, provides hands-on training in fields such as poultry, aquaculture, and beekeeping to equip young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills.
