The North Central representative on the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, has commended the Kwara State Government for the successful completion of its large-scale recruitment under the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
The recruitment exercise led to hiring 1,800 teachers, 200 security personnel, and 100 non-teaching staff across the state.
Describing it as a significant achievement, Engineer Adeyemi said the process reflected transparency and a strong commitment to merit-based hiring.
In a statement from his media team, he particularly praised the introduction of mandatory drug testing for new teachers, calling it a bold and timely step.
“The introduction of mandatory drug testing is a commendable policy direction. It reflects the government’s seriousness about teacher integrity, student safety, and the larger goal of curbing substance abuse in our communities,” he said.
TESCOM Chairman, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, had earlier appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for approving and supporting the recruitment during the 2025 first quarter inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin.
Posting of appointment letters and biometric capturing for successful candidates began on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Engineer Adeyemi also applauded the smooth conduct of the exercise and praised the leadership of TESCOM and other stakeholders involved.
“This recruitment is historic in scale and the standards it sets for others to follow. It is a win for good governance, a win for education, and a win for Kwara State,” he added.
