President Bola Tinubu is expected to commission several newly completed projects at the University of Ilorin as part of activities marking the institution’s 40th convocation ceremony.
According to a statement issued by the University Registrar, Mansur Alfanla, on Thursday, the week-long convocation will be held from October 17 to 26, 2025.
The event will feature a convocation lecture to be delivered by former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), on Wednesday, October 22. The lecture, titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World,” will take place at the University Auditorium.
Other highlights of the convocation include a press briefing by Vice-Chancellor Prof Wahab Egbewole, a convocation play titled “Joromi,” and ceremonies for four-year, five-year, and postgraduate graduands. The investiture of Emeritus Professors, Staff Merit Awards and a Convocation Luncheon will also be held.
The university said adequate logistics and security arrangements have been made to ensure a hitch-free celebration, urging graduands and guests to maintain decorum throughout the event.
