Dr. Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan honoured with Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from UI at its 2025 convocation
Dr Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan received an honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from the University of Ibadan at its 2025 convocation, in recognition of his impact on Nigeria’s banking sector and national development.
Kayode Olatunbosun, CFO of Midwestern Oil & Gas, described the award as a tribute to Adeduntan’s resilience and leadership. From his Veterinary Medicine roots at UI to top roles at Citibank, Africa Finance Corporation and a decade as FirstBank CEO, Adeduntan has driven reforms in stability, digital banking, and financial inclusion.
Olatunbosun praised his mentorship of emerging leaders, expansion of financial access, and philanthropic efforts in education, youth empowerment, and community development. He called the accolade a “fitting recognition” of a career that blends professional excellence with national impact.
The University of Ibadan highlighted Adeduntan’s contributions to corporate governance, economic development, and social progress.
Olatunbosun noted that the honour reinforces the value of integrity, competence and visionary leadership, inspiring a new generation of Nigerian professionals.
