Debating team from UI wins the Jaw War 2025, a public speaking festival
The debating team from the University of Ibadan (UI) has won the Jaw War 2025, a two-month ideas and public speaking festival.
The competition, organised by the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan (TLDS), featured other universities, including Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and Lead City University, which emerged second and third, respectively.
Prof. Kayode Adebowale, UI’s Vice Chancellor, appreciated TLDS for making UI students more intellectual and confident.
Babatimeyin Peace, TLDS President, in his remarks, said, “The whole essence of Jaw War is engagement. We teach tolerance, discuss socio-economic policies, analyse social issues, and most importantly, seek solutions.”
Engr. Femi Babalola, father of the day, added, “This platform prepares youths for the future. It teaches them to engage with ideas and articulate their thoughts. I urge every student involved to remain focused and learn as much as they can.”
