The University of Lagos (UNILAG) concluded its first-ever Registry Week on Thursday, November 6, 2025, highlighting professionalism, digital literacy, and ethical standards among administrative staff.
The week-long event, which brought together registry professionals and university officials from UNILAG and other institutions, ended with the Registry Week Lecture at Nurudeen Alao Auditorium, Distance Learning Institute. The lecture, titled “Excellence in University Administration: The Imperatives of Professionalism and Digital Literacy”, was delivered by former Lagos State University Registrar, Akinwunmi Oladapo Lewis.
Lewis urged administrators to adopt digital skills to improve transparency, efficiency, and innovation in university management. He stressed the importance of integrity, confidentiality, continuous learning, and ethical conduct in modern administration.
UNILAG Registrar, Mrs Victoria Wickliffe, said the event aimed to reposition the registry as a digitally driven, service-oriented arm of the University. Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola described the celebration as a call to excellence, urging staff to embrace innovation and professional growth.
The week also featured the launch of Registry Sentinel, the University’s new registry magazine, as well as presentations of appreciation plaques to key dignitaries. Other activities included seminars, a medical outreach, sporting events, and an awareness walk across the Akoka and Idi-Araba campuses.
The event marks UNILAG’s push toward a modern, digitally empowered administration.
