UNILAG Hosts Colloquium on Digital Learning for All

Stakeholders at the 4th International Colloquium of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI), UNILAG.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has again called for digital education that will carry everybody along and also last for the future. This event took place during the 4th International Colloquium of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI), held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Nurudeen Alao Auditorium.

The theme of the programme was “Future-Proofing Open Flexible Distance Learning: Balancing Innovation, Inclusion and Sustainability.” The event brought together lecturers, government officials, and industry experts to talk about how learning can keep pace with today’s digital world.

Speaking at the event, UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, said technology should not remove the human touch in education. According to her, while digital tools are changing the way people learn, they must also help to connect people and make education more meaningful.

Participants agreed that the colloquium provided an opportunity to rethink distance learning in Nigeria. They emphasised that innovation must expand access to education without leaving behind the less privileged.
