Four Faculties at the University of Ilorin have elected new Deans who will take office on August 1, 2025. In the Faculty of Education, Prof. Olukunmi Lanre Olaitan, a Health Promotion expert and former Director of the Advancement Centre, was elected on July 14 to replace Prof. Lasiele Alabi Yahaya.
In the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, the former Acting Head of Mass Communication, was appointed Dean on July 16, succeeding Prof. Lukman Azeez. The Faculty of Law also elected Prof. Bashir Omipidan, former Director of Open and Distance Learning, as Dean. He succeeds Prof. Nimah AbdulRaheem. At the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Hannah Olawumi from the Department of Haematology was elected Dean.
Observers described all four elections as fair and transparent. The new Deans have promised to lead with integrity and work to improve academic standards in their Faculties.
