The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University has dismissed fears that the institution lacks qualified teaching staff for its part-time degrees.
Speaking at the 11th matriculation ceremony for 412 new part-time students in Osogbo, Vice-Chancellor Professor Clement Adebooye said the institution had recruited more lecturers and improved remuneration to guarantee academic rigour. “Quality education begins with quality teaching. That is why we are deliberately investing in our staff,” he told students at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, assuring them of a “seamless and fulfilling academic experience”.
Adebooye pointed to new facilities, including a Riso machine for the Centre for Part-Time Studies, and a fully digitised results system designed to prevent delays in graduation. He urged students to balance discipline with ambition, warning that the university would not tolerate examination malpractice, cultism or indecent dressing. Professor Bosede Akanbi, Director of the Centre, described the programme as a “golden opportunity” for working professionals, with classes held only on Fridays and Saturdays. The event underlined UNIOSUN’s effort to expand access to higher education while seeking to dispel doubts over the strength of its teaching staff.
