The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, in Ekiti State, has declared the post of Vice-Chancellor vacant from February 2026 and invited applications from qualified academics.
The Vice-Chancellor, who serves as the University’s Chief Executive, Academic and Accounting Officer, is charged with steering policy, overseeing administration, and safeguarding academic standards. The role also entails chairing Senate and Congregation, guiding admissions, ensuring discipline, and advising the Governing Council on financial and administrative affairs. Candidates must be professors with at least ten years in the rank, possess a doctorate (except for professors of medicine), and demonstrate distinguished academic achievements alongside proven leadership. They are expected to show capacity for attracting international research funding, vision for institutional growth, and impeccable integrity. Applicants should be under 65 years old at the time of assuming office.
The appointment is for a single five-year term, under conditions set by federal regulations governing Nigerian universities. Applications are to be submitted online at careers.fuoye.edu.ng within six weeks of this announcement. The Federal University Oye-Ekiti, established in 2011, now hosts 59,159 students across two campuses and fifteen faculties, positioning itself among Nigeria’s rapidly expanding centres of higher learning.
