UNIOSUN, NMT Partner to Train Engineers

The formal signing of a Collaborative Partnership Agreement between NMT and Osun State University (UNIOSUN).

Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has signed a major agreement with Nigeria Machine Tools Limited (NMTL) to train engineering students in practical skills. The deal was sealed to set up an Engineering Skills Development Centre in Osogbo. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Adebooye, stated that the centre will enable students to acquire practical technical skills, including welding, machining, CAD, and CNC operations. It will also provide training to professionals and the public, enhancing employment opportunities and supporting Nigeria’s economy.

Engineer Alexander Igweze, from NMTL, praised the university’s efforts and emphasised the need to align what students learn with the needs of industries. The new centre will focus on mechatronics and other engineering areas. It will also teach entrepreneurship to help young people start their businesses. Both UNIOSUN and NMTL believe that this partnership will produce more job-ready graduates and support Nigeria’s drive for industrial growth and development.
