UNIPORT VC Lauds Tinubu for Solar Power Intervention

Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, VC of the University of Port Harcourt

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the installation of a new solar power system at the institution.

Speaking during an inspection and test-run of the project, Professor Georgewill said the intervention had placed UNIPORT on a stronger path towards sustainable energy and improved campus services. He noted that the solar system would provide more reliable electricity for teaching, learning, research, entrepreneurship and administrative work.
The Vice-Chancellor said the project aligns with the Federal Government’s push for renewable energy adoption and would help reduce the University’s dependence on the national grid. He added that the system is expected to improve productivity and support critical academic activities with stable power.

UNIPORT described the development as a significant step in its efforts to promote a greener, more resilient and innovation-driven campus environment.
