A University of Ibadan student, Abayomi Odole, has completed a three-and-a-half-month academic and entrepreneurial fellowship at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland under the START Fellowship programme.
The fellowship, a global initiative supporting student entrepreneurs from emerging markets, offers participants mentorship, training, and access to international business networks.
Mr Odole, a 400-level student of Veterinary Medicine, co-founded Doorcas Africa, an agricultural technology startup that uses data collection, disease reporting, and artificial intelligence to reduce livestock mortality.
During the fellowship, he represented both the University of Ibadan and his startup at international events, including the START Summit in Switzerland, the BeChangeMaker Youth Festival organised by WorldSkills International, and the DECIDE CLUSTER conference in Berlin.
The University of Ibadan commended his achievement, describing it as a reflection of its growing collaboration with global innovation networks and its commitment to nurturing students with both academic and entrepreneurial skills.
Mr Odole expressed appreciation to the university’s management, mentors, and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for their support, pledging to continue representing the institution on global stages.
