The Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has suspended its President, Chinedu Ozoagu, and seven other executive members over serious allegations of cultism, student murder, intimidation, and financial misconduct.
Those suspended include Deputy Speaker Ihentugo Rejoice, Emmanuel Asadu, Agbo Sobechukwu Malachy, Chinweike Dorothy, Victory Chidiebere, Chukwuma JohnPaul, and Edmund Solomon.
The decision followed a petition submitted to the SUG House of Representatives, which accused the officials of aiding cultists and non-students on campus for financial gain. They were also linked to the murder of a fellow student.
In a statement signed by Speaker Ikechukwu Eze and Clerk Chidozie Onah, the House alleged that the suspended executives used cult groups to intimidate union members who opposed their actions.
The issues have already caused tension on the university campus, with many calling for a thorough investigation to ensure justice and restore order in the student community.
